Make Your Own Linocut Picture Book
This is a how-to for a DIY linocut picture book project Joseph Chiang did in his home studio. Basically, he came up with the story, illustrated it, and then printed the individual pages using linocut printing technique. Finally, he hand-stitched the book.
You need
- Linoleum
- Ink
- Paper
- Sketch and draw the images on tracing paper
- Transfer images to linoleum blocks. Carve the linoleum blocks.
- Ink the linoleum blocks with a roller with block printing inks. Print the pictures by transferring the ink to paper by rubbing with a wooden spoon or baren.
- Bind the book by hand-stitching the paper together with a needle and thread.
